The Mayor and City Council have implemented a new Emergency Notification System called CodeRED®, which is a service provided by Emergency Communications Network of Ormand Beach, FL. This new, free service allows City officials to notify our residents and businesses by telephone about emergency situations or critical community alerts. The system is capable of sending messages only to people affected by a particular situation, or, in the case of a widespread emergency, to the City’s entire population. The speed of the CodeRED® system (up to 1,000 calls per minute, on average) is so great that the City is able to send a message to affected households almost as quickly as City officials become aware of the situation.
The City conducted a City-wide call of our new system on June 19, 2009 to alert residents whose phone numbers were in our original database from CodeRED®. If you did not receive a phone call, you are not in our telephone database. To be included in future calls, you must register with CodeRED®, especially if you have an unlisted number. The system allows you to enter two phone numbers per registration form. If additional members of the household have cell phones you want included, you’ll need to submit a new registration for each person, and each person can register two numbers. The information on how to register is below.
If you are not in our telephone database and do not want to be in our database, you don’t need to do anything, and the CodeRED® system will not call you. However, if you are in our database, and you do not want to be in our database and be contacted by CodeRED®, you must fill out a Do Not Call Form. Click here to access that form. Once you fill out the form, return it to the Director of Public Safety, 6161 Engle Rd., Brook Park, OH 44142. The form will then be forwarded to CodeRED® for processing. Please allow 6-8 weeks for your number to be removed from our database.
To register for the CodeRED® Emergency Notification Program click here or on the CodeRED® logo above and fill out the registration form provided.
If you cannot register on line, or you have questions, please call City Hall at 216-433-1300.
