The Brook Park Civil Service Commission consists of three Commissioners who are appointed by the Mayor serving six-year staggered terms. Commission meetings are open to the public and are generally held on the second Thursday of the month. The Commission services the Brook Park Police, Fire, and Service Departments as well as the Berea City School District.
The Commission is governed by the State of Ohio and the City Charter, Section 11.02. An in-depth yearly report is required by the State Personnel Board of Review. Our records are open to the public under the Public Records Policy.
Any open position in the Police and Fire Departments, both entry and promotional, are filled by competitive written examination. Announcements and application packets will be available on the City’s web site.

Heavy Duty / Medium Duty Technician
The City of Brook Park is looking for a Heavy Duty / Medium Duty Automotive Technician with a starting
salary of $28.79 per hour.
Some job responsibilities are to diagnose a wide variety of mechanical problems and perform necessary
repairs. Use of diagnostic equipment and software to determine problems. Ability to work on trucks,
cars, SUV’s, ambulances, fire trucks, snow plows, hydraulics, and other equipment.
Some job requirements include: Any combination of training and experience that demonstrates an
ability to perform the duties of this position. The ability to follow technical manual procedures to
perform repairs and a proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, battery, and hydraulic systems
used in repair of heavy construction equipment along with gas and diesel powered vehicles. At least 1
year of auto diagnostics and repair preferred.
