4TH ANNUAL TRASH TO TREASURE DAY
Date: August 7, 2010 Time: 9:00 p.m.—3:00 p.m.
No garage sale shall offer any merchandise for sale that has been purchased
for purposes of resale. No garage sale shall be conducted on the same
property more than two times in any twelve month period. Signs can only be
posted in the front yard or tree lawn of the resident conducting the garage
sales.
ANNUAL PET FAIR AND DOG WALK/SWIM
Date: Saturday, August 28 Time: 10:00 a.m.—12:30 p.m.
Registration fee/deadline: $10, August 20 Location: Outdoor Water Park
The Water Park will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. There is a
separate dog walk at approximately 11:00 a.m. We will also have vendors,
photos with your pets, Pet Fair logo t-shirts and prize raffles. All
proceeds support the Brook Park Animal Shelter and their Animal

RELAXATION TECHNIQUES
Date: Tuesday, August 31 Time: 10:00 a.m.
Join Amy Clayman as she talks about the effects of stress on mental and
physical health, ways to relax and overcoming barriers to relaxation.
DEFENSE WITH THE CANE
Date: Saturday, August 21 Time: 11:00 a.m.—12:30 p.m.

This class was designed to be an effective and efficient self-defense system
that will allow anyone with a simple walking cane to better defend
themselves and their family. The can is an excellent self-defense tool that
is legal to carry anywhere. Discover for yourself the power and versatility
of this overlooked self-defense tool.
TRI-CITY COLLABORATIVE GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Grades: 6-8 Cost: $20
Open to girls residing within the boundaries of or attending a school in the
Berea School System. Girls must sign up in their city of residence. Only
individual registrations will be accepted. Teams will be formed by the
recreation departments. Games will be played evenings and weekends in
Middleburg Heights, Berea and Brook Park.
KOREAN AMERICAN MARTIAL ARTS (KAMA)

SUMMER YOUTH AND ADULT TENNIS LESSONS

Beginner—Intro to basic tennis skills, including racquet handling, forehand
and backhand ground strokes, rallying, sportsmanship and rules knowledge
Advanced Beginner—Review of beginner skills and an introduction to more
advanced techniques, volleying and serving
Intermediate—Review of advanced beginner skills with more advanced
techniques, introduction to overhead smash
Cost:
Individual lessons—$30 per person per session
Group lessons—
2 students, $15 per person per lesson
4 students, $10 per person per lesson
While developing a love for the game, athletes will learn the rules and
etiquette that help make tennis a lifelong game. Taught by Karyn Rafalke,

and water. Monday class is more relaxation and stretching. Wednesday class

Registration entitles a participant to attend all the classes above. Fees

WATER EXERCISE
Monthly on-going sessions will be offered. The Aquatics Department offers
medium-high intensity water exercise, water walking, deep water, and
Arthritis water exercise. Current class offerings are located at the front
desk. Registrations will be taken the last week of each month.

WATER PARK 2010 RENTALS:
If you are interested in having a birthday party, family reunion or a
friendly get-together, rent the patio area at the Water Park.

Parties of 26 or more $195 $235
Fees include admissions, swim passes (valid all day), private rental to the
patio area. Patio area is valid for three hours. An additional $6 per person
per resident and $8 per person per non-resident for counts above the number
on the contract.
Important information:
Rental Hours: 12:30 p.m.—3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m.—7:30 p.m.
Renters supply own decorations which much be approved.
A rental deposit (50%) must be paid at the time of the contract signing. The
remainder is due the day of the party.
Renters are responsible for clean up.
Renters are responsible for any damage.
Refunds are only issued for inclement weather. The Rec Center will work with
renters to make alternate arrangements. The Rec Center will permit moving
the party inside as able when the Rec Center is open. The indoor pool closes
for severe weather.

Glucose screening 3rd Wednesday every month, 8:00 a.m.—9:30 a.m.
Stop in and get your blood pressure and blood glucose checked. Fasting is
recommended for blood glucose test, but not required.

Brook Park Seniors: Arthritis Update: Tuesday Sept 28, 10 a.m.
Research shows that as people learn more about arthritis, they may increase
their ability to manage this disease resulting in less pain and better
quality of life. Dr. Sujaya Vijayakumar from South West General Health
Center will discuss treatments for arthritis and the latest updates.
